Getting Flight Plan Data via Flight Status API

We’re pleased to announce that you can now retrieve flight plans filed with the ATC alongside regular flight status data with AeroDataBox API. This addition gives you deeper insight into planned flight operations beyond just departure and arrival information.

How It Works

Add withFlightPlan=true query string parameter to your flight status API endpoint requests, e.g.:

GET /flights/number/AS2223?withFlightPlan=true
GET /flights/number/AS2223/2026-01-03?withFlightPlan=true

When a flight plan is available, the response will include the filed route, altitude, airspeed, flight rules (IFR/VFR), and flight plan status. More flight plan fields may be added in the future.

Limitations

Flight plan data is currently available only for flights departing from, arriving to, or crossing the mainland U.S. airspace. The feature is accessible on BASIC, ULTRA, ULTRA-2, and MEGA pricing plans.

Billing

When withFlightPlan=true and a flight plan is found for any of the flights returned, the request counts as two calls against your Tier 2 API quota (except MEGA plan).

As always, check our documentation for full details.
